2020 Event

The 2020 Miles for MSA Challenge was the event inaugural one. Late in 2019 Austin Urban and the rest of his family was given the terrible news that his father, Jon, had been diagnosed with MSA after almost a year of symptoms. The news was a crushing blow to the family, their friends and the community that surrounds them. Just a few months later, the world was changed forever by the COVID-19 pandemic. In quarantine and finding himself with extra time, Austin used his love for exercise and activity and began the first year of Miles for MSA. To start, Austin and his family reached out to close friends and family in an attempt to keep Jon’s condition quiet during a stressful time in business and other people’s lives. Austin ran the first mile on May 1st, 2020 at 12:01 on a cold rainy night along Lakeview Rd Copake Lake, NY as Jon followed him in a golf cart with lights so he could see. Their inner circle was generous, and in the first year, Miles for MSA raised $15,000.
